Camera Club Members Exhibit at Barnaby

By Astro photography, Members Successes, News No Comments

Congratulations to three of our members for putting on two great exhibitions as part of the Barnaby Festival.

Val Lear and Mark Helliwell, in conjunction with Rachael King, have an exhibition following the life of a hoarder with OCD through the medium of photography, video and personal writing.  It’s on at the Gateway gallery on Prestbury Road up to and including Sunday 26th June. There will also be a presentation on OCD/hoarding on Saturday 25th from 1-3pm, followed by a mindfulness session to 4pm.

David Tolliday is showcasing his fantastic astro-photography skills with a number of his images on display at Brewtique, 8 Market place, until 26th June. You can also choose from a great selection of beers here if you’re that way inclined.

Please get along to both if you can, they are well worth a visit.

Final Competition of the Season

By News No Comments

The Landscape dpi competition was our last of the season. Thanks go to our very own Landscape judge, Mark Helliwell, who gave considered and insightful critiques for all the entered  images. The honours go to Alison Lomax in first place, Conor Molloy in 2nd and Paul Scott in 3rd.  The top 10 images are now available to view on the Competitions Page.

With all the scores now in I can announce that the winner of the League is…. Paul Scott (again!), who managed to overtake Anthony at the last. Many congratulations Paul.

The final scores were (remember that the lowest score achieved in a competition is dropped from the final tally):

Paul Scott             – 38 points

Anthony Gosling – 34 points

Conor Molloy       – 33 points

Steve Gresty         – 29 points

Kevin Blake          – 26 points

Len Claydon         – 24 points

Alison Lomax       – 21 points

Louise Acton        – 15 points

David Tolliday     – 13 points

Malcolm Brunt    – 11 points

The full spread sheet will be sent out to everyone in due course.

Hope to see you all at the AGM next week, when Paul will be presented with his trophy.

Internal Competition – Pairs

By Competitions, News No Comments

Thanks to all who attended and submitted entries for our ‘Pairs’ competition. Thanks also to our judge Nick Berentzen who stepped in at short notice when our booked judge had to withdraw.  There were a wide range of takes on the theme but congratulations go to Paul Scott, Len Claydon and Conor Molloy for taking the top 3 spots.

It’s definitely hotting up in the league with only one competition remaining so all to play for. The leader board is as follows:

Anthony Gosling 34; Steve Gresty 26; Paul Scott 25; Conor Molloy and Len Claydon 24; Kevin Blake 19.

Open Print Competition Results

By Competitions, News No Comments

Many thanks to our panel of judges, David Tolliday, Andrew Wilson and Chris Aggersbury, for doing such a professional job last night.  The top 10 are as follows: In equal first place with 10 points each are Anthony Gosling, Pamela Carr and Len Claydon.  Other scorers are: Anthony again with 7 points, Steve Gresty with 2 images gaining 6 points and one in tenth place, Kevin Blake scores 4, Kevin Lomax 3 and Len Claydon with another 2 points.

With 47 entries there was a strong field, with many people entering prints for the first time. Hopefully, this will mean that we can re-introduce more prints to the internal competitions next season. Thanks to all who took the trouble to enter.

The leader board is now as follows:

Anthony Gosling 28; Steve Gresty 26; Kevin Blake 19; Conor Molloy 16; Paul Scott 15; David Tolliday 13; Louise Acton and  Len Claydon on 12;  and Pamela Carr 10; Kevin Lomax 7; Vince Spaks 6;  Malcolm Brunt 4 and Irene Lea 1.

Print Competition Deadline Looming

By Competitions, News No Comments

Only one week left to get your print entries in for the next competition. Entries must be in by 18th Jan. There will be no extensions as the prints will be collected by the judges next Monday evening. Please DO NOT write your name on the back, only the title, as the competition will be judged by a panel of club members. Also, don’t forget to send your entry form to me as usual.

Good luck!
